1. How do you begin your day?
Alice: The first 2 hours of my day are devoted to my beautiful 13 year old daughter.
I wake up 30 mins before her so I can drink my warm lemon water and do my oil pulling, prepare her lunch for school (or summer camp!), and steep our herbal tea which she asks for every morning (raspberry leaf, nettle, peppermint and clover). Once she is awake, it’s ‘all hands on deck’ to get her out the door with food in her belly and IPod in hand!
Then I get to do my practice of either creating Bellyfit® choreography in my home studio, doing a light Yoga practice or walking on the beach by my house in my bare feet with my beloved husband who is also my business partner (which often turns into a strategy meeting for the day ahead!). Then it’s a green smoothie, shower and either turn on the music and teach a Bellyfit® class, or turn on the music and get online to make the Bellyfit® world go round!
2. What’s one piece of life changing health advice you can share with others?
Alice : The one piece of health advice that has changed my life the most is the importance of taking 100% full responsibility for whatever shows up. Certainly we can enlist trusted ‘experts’, but ultimately, we are the ones creating our reality, and we are the only ones who can truly create lasting health. In order to be truly empowered around our health, we must step up fully and be fully embodied…we have all we need to heal, deep in our DNA!
3. What’s one thing that gives you hope for the future?
Alice : The rise of the divine feminine in women and men. Every day I see another person awakening to the shift in power that needs to occur. It is a beautiful thing to witness and share!
4. Any lifestyle ‘Crimes against Wisdom’ (Prajnaparadha) that challenge you?
Alice : The pervasive ‘flat abs’ images of photoshopped women that flood every media outlet on the planet on a daily basis! Women’s perception of what the female body, especially our most sacred centre ~ the Belly, is ‘supposed’ to look like, is being perverted and distorted. I could go on for days about how this false image is affecting women’s psyche…
5. A moment of beauty that inspired you today?
Alice : A ray of sunlight coming in through my bedroom window and striking my altar in just the right spot. Sublime.
Thank you for the interview, Alice . Om Shanti!
